Job Description

Context and Opportunities

This research project is part of the NOCIME consortium, a collaborative effort between Inrae, Inria, and IRD, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The project aims to develop new research results in optimal control theory and apply them to epidemiological models. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our team in Montpellier, with regular trips to Paris.

Research Objectives

The postdoctoral fellow will work on developing and testing new research results related to optimal control problems with unconventional criteria. The focus will be on applying these results to epidemiological models in continuous time, with a particular emphasis on crisis time, peak minimization, and maximization of the final size. The work will involve both theoretical and numerical approaches, including reformulations and approximations of these problems in a more classical form.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and test new research results in optimal control theory and their applications to epidemiological models
  • Write scientific publications for international conferences and journals
  • Present research results at international meetings and NOCIME project meetings

Requirements

  • PhD in Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Strong background in control theory and mathematical biology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Benefits

  • Subsidized meals
  • Partial reimbursement of public transport costs
  • Leave: 7 weeks of annual leave + 10 extra days off due to RTT + possibility of exceptional leave
  • Possibility of teleworking and flexible organization of working hours
  • Professional equipment available
  • Social, cultural, and sports events and activities
