Troyes, the historical capital of Champagne, boasts an extraordinary heritage and is just 1h30 south of Paris via the A5 highway or train. The region has seen consistent population growth over the last decade, largely due to its expanding university and technological sectors.
Position Overview
Context:
Within the Road Department, our organization operates five Departmental Road Agencies (ARC) that are responsible for maintaining road infrastructure and facilitating traffic through 12 road centers.
You will play a crucial role in executing maintenance tasks and interventions aimed at preserving road quality and enhancing traffic conditions for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct routine maintenance and repair work on departmental roads, including road surfaces, bridges, shoulders, and embankments, as well as in designated departmental road centers and along the Haute-Seine canal and Lakes' shorelines;
2. Perform interventions to assist with user traffic, including signage and winter services, while ensuring public spaces remain clean;
3. Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on departmental buildings.
Main Activities of the Role:
In terms of routine maintenance, you will:
- Execute restoration operations for roads, bridges, and public road equipment;
- Install and maintain vertical signage;
- Mow and clear embankments and slopes;
- Prune trees and hedge shrubs;
- Maintain drainage systems for roads and bridges;
- Conduct primary maintenance on construction machinery, equipment, and site tools.
In terms of traffic assistance, you will:
- Respond to events causing traffic disruptions (such as snow, ice, storms, accidents, and obstacles on roads);
- Clean roads and public spaces, including sweeping, debris collection, washing, graffiti removal, and poster removal.
Skills to Develop:
REGULATORY SKILLS: for assigned tasks:
- Authorization to operate vehicles, machinery, and work equipment;
- Electrical certification;
- In specific road centers: authorization to work near water bodies (including obtaining a swimming certificate).
KNOWLEDGE: for assigned tasks:
- Techniques for maintaining roads, bridges, and shoulders;
- Principles and standards for permanent and temporary signage;
- Understanding of equipment, their operation, and maintenance procedures;
- Health and safety regulations, safety concepts, and public and worker risk management.
SKILLS: for assigned tasks:
- Proficiency in various manual tasks such as excavation, construction, cleaning, and pruning;
- Application of materials, equipment, and tools;
- Operation and driving of transport and work machinery;
- Ability to read, understand, and implement site instructions, including safety protocols;
- Reporting on activities performed.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Recruitment for this position is open - applications should be directed to the HR department. This is a fixed-term contract with the position based in Arcis sur Aube.
The Ideal Candidate
Desired Profile: Education / Professional Experience:
- Possession of a minimum level V technical diploma (BEP, CAP);
- Driving license B required, driving license C preferred;
- Experience in road maintenance or public works is advantageous.
Job Specifics:
- Versatility across various tasks and activities;
- Availability for outdoor work in all seasons, sometimes under traffic conditions, and occasionally at night;
- Ability to work at heights or in proximity to water;
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
