Position: Lead Psychiatrist for the Admissions Unit at Clamart

The Fernand Léger unit is a specialized 18-bed facility designed for short-term care of patients experiencing crises within the broader healthcare continuum.

Continuity of Care at the Fernand Léger Unit

  • Collaborative Saturday morning coverage with another admissions unit.
  • Shared on-call responsibilities across the department.

Key Responsibilities: Implementation of the Open Admissions Unit Initiative

Admission criteria for this unit encompass:

  • Patients in voluntary or involuntary treatment with conditions appropriate for short-term admission;
  • Management of crises or prevention: including suicidal crises, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, personality disorders, and psychotic episodes requiring immediate care;
  • Conditions necessitating brief observation and treatment (ranging from 72 hours to two weeks).

The unit aims to integrate seamlessly into coordinated care with various sectors and work alongside social-educational services to formulate aftercare plans: close care teams, follow-up appointments at specialized clinics, and potential admissions to facilities.

The unit may also provide post-crisis follow-up in a day hospital format, ensuring a rapid and targeted response along with possible care consolidation.

2. Ensure Effective Unit Operations within the Department

The establishment of the Fernand Léger unit seeks to enhance patient care pathways by coordinating with outpatient services:

  • Admissions from specialized clinics and emergency services;
  • Seamless transitions from specialized clinics or private practices.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of personalized care plans;
  • Crisis intervention strategies;
  • Medical evaluations, initiation, and modification of pharmacological treatments;
  • Psychoeducation initiatives.

Organization of Clinical Activities:

  • 6 half-days dedicated to the admissions unit;
  • 4 half-days at the Emergency Department;
  • Participation in on-call duties at the Clamart site (approximately once monthly);
  • Involvement in weekend on-call shifts at the Emergency Department (approximately once monthly).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Engagement in institutional activities;

Contributing to the development and execution of departmental projects.

Attendance at institutional meetings within the department.

Implementation of quality management and risk management protocols, including therapeutic education initiatives.

Facilitation of care continuity within the department.

Involvement in training, education, or clinical research;

Supervision and educational support for specialized assistants and interns across departmental structures.

Instruction of interns at the Clamart site.

Collaboration with various social and healthcare partners to enhance comprehensive care initiatives, training, and mental health information dissemination for frontline professionals.Active participation in institutional governance (committees, working groups, etc.).
