Position Overview:
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is looking for a dedicated Research Associate to contribute to the RTC Markets initiative centered on cassava. This role encompasses a variety of essential tasks aimed at enhancing the cassava sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and nurture connections among cassava seed producers, farmers, and market processors.
- Identify and advocate for cassava varieties that possess favorable characteristics for both local consumption and international trade.
- Assist in conducting economic research regarding the supply and demand dynamics of RTC.
- Fortify business relationships within the cassava value chain.
- Enhance the capabilities of cassava traders' associations.
- Encourage the commercial processing of cassava and the addition of value to products.
- Facilitate access to both domestic and international markets.
- Collaborate with agricultural extension services to support producer groups and traders effectively.
- Contribute to the management of project data and offer technical expertise.
- Engage in project review meetings and monitoring activities.
- Perform additional project-related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related discipline, complemented by experience in private sector development and market enhancement.
