Job DescriptionAs a Staff Software Engineer at Datadog, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-visibility projects that drive scalability, resilience, and security across our platform. You'll lead cross-functional teams, guide architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with partners to deliver critical capabilities to our customers.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and driving high-priority projects that increase the platform's resilience and scalability across multiple teams
- Leading and guiding others through architectural decisions for new and existing distributed systems
- Identifying potential system risks and trends in reliability, and designing solutions to address them
- Providing input on prioritization of engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning and roadmaps
To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess:
- At least 2 years of experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
- A deep passion for performance and efficiency optimization
- Experience leading impactful technical initiatives in an environment where performance, reliability, and accuracy are first-order concerns
- A reliability-oriented mindset and a commitment to designing and building resilient architectures
- Significant backend programming experience and a proven track record of architecting, building, and operating distributed systems at scale

- A salary range of $160,000 - $240,000 per year, depending on location and experience
