As a Windows Server Engineer at emagine Consulting, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server related technologies across our estate. Your primary responsibilities will include project delivery, ensuring that all project/investment related workloads are delivered according to plans and defined budgets. You will also take part in the team rota, including on-call and weekend working, and deliver against team BAU responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all project/investment related workloads are delivered according to plans and defined budgets
  • Taking part in the team rota, including on-call and weekend working
  • Delivering against team BAU responsibilities
  • Identifying savings across project & BAU activities to be implemented through automation involving a process flow of Service Now -> AWX -> Ansible / scripting
  • Supporting customer requirements through ticket-based task management as well as implementation of automation

Secondary responsibilities include:

  • Taking part in daily health and compliance checks for all Production systems as required
  • Ensuring all Windows Server systems are backed up successfully and any issues are promptly resolved
  • Validating monitoring alerts are detected promptly and satisfactorily resolved
  • Ensuring sufficient capacity is available to accommodate projected BAU & project growth
  • Responding to emails sent to the team distribution list in a timely manner
  • Handling incidents and requests with efficiency and a "customer first" mindset
  • Maintaining Windows Server platforms in a highly available, reliable, secure and performant manner
  • General maintenance activities
  • Providing technical support to application support and development teams
  • Providing consultancy to application support and development teams
  • Executing disaster recovery procedures when necessary and taking part in regular DR tests
  • Ensuring patches and security updates are applied as per defined policies
  • Maintaining all operational procedures to ensure they are current and accurate
  • Taking part in On-Call & weekend work rotation; triaging and addressing production issues as they arise
  • Identifying cost saving and optimisation opportunities across the group
  • Building strong working relationships across the organisation
  • Adhering to the core values of the bank

Required skills and knowledge include:

  • Windows Server 2k8 / 2k12 / 2k16 / 2k19 related technologies
  • PowerShell
  • CI/CD pipelines and other automation concepts
  • Dev/Ops mentality
  • Git or other source code control software
  • Security hardening principles in line with CIS industry benchmarks
  • Excellent knowledge of networking, storage, database and virtualization layers
  • Clustering and high-availability technologies
  • Replication and disaster recovery
  • Security and auditing
  • Excellent knowledge of data security governance and regulations such as GDPR and SOX
  • TCP/IP Networking Protocols
