Role Overview

The Cybersecurity Governance and Risk Manager plays a crucial role in managing the organization’s information security initiatives. This position is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the Information Security Management System (ISMS), overseeing risk management processes, and spearheading compliance efforts. The Cybersecurity Governance and Risk Manager also serves as the primary contact for security audits and leads the development and enforcement of information security policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage ISMS activities and the associated team
  • Oversee information security risk management processes across the organization
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and documentation related to information security governance, risk management, and compliance
  • Regularly communicate with senior leadership regarding the status of security initiatives and compliance efforts
  • Manage and enhance information security initiatives to align with organizational objectives and industry standards
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure that information security practices align with business goals
  • Provide guidance on best practices and compliance requirements to stakeholders
  • Design and implement programs to raise security awareness among employees, including training and resources to foster a culture of vigilance
  • Act as the primary contact for external security audits and certification processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and identify improvement opportunities
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes to enhance the organization’s security posture
  • Ensure compliance with product security and data privacy regulations
  • Lead the coordination of security incident responses, including streamlined external communications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CISA are highly regarded
  • Extensive background in information security governance, risk management, and compliance
  • Practical experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001/2/3, NIST, and CIS
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development processes, and product architecture
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and formulating risk mitigation strategies
  • Experience in developing and implementing security standards, procedures, and controls
  • Familiarity with GRC tools and processes for automating and monitoring security controls
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements
