About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Engineer II to join our team in Ansys Customer Excellence (ACE). As an Optical Engineer II, you will be responsible for providing technical support to customers, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of Optics simulation techniques to provide exceptional technical support to customers.
- Take ownership of customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive Optics solutions.
- Contribute to all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows and articulate Ansys' value proposition.
- Provide introductory and/or intermediate training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which may include collaborative work with other application engineers in the same or different disciplines.
- Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate these requirements into new product capabilities.
- Required education and degree type: BS or MS in Optical Engineering or a related field.
- Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: MS+2.
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and a wide range of audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature across geographically diverse locations.
- Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed.
- Hands-on experience in using commercial optical software tools (e.g. Code V, LucidShape, Speos, LightTools, Lumerical).
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Optical Theory.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
- Familiarity with python.
- Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: MS+5 or PhD+0.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
- Demonstrated skills using optical software Speos, Zemax OpticStudio and Lumerical.
- Knowledge of some of the following fields is a plus: CAD programs (Catia, NX, Creo, etc.) Knowledge of material properties measurements Automotive industry or Aeronautics and/or experience in optics or illumination systems.
