Key Responsibilities:
You will engage with the Commercial division through a two-year rotational program, commencing with a year in Market Research followed by a year in the Trading Team.
Market Research Rotation:
As a Commodity Analyst, your role will involve conducting analyses across various markets overseen by the Research team, including Sugar, Ethanol, Grains, and Energy. You will collaborate daily with fellow analysts and traders to track market trends and develop essential analytical tools.
Your focus will be on creating new models and effectively communicating Supply and Demand analyses to a broad internal audience. You will ensure the accuracy of data and the robustness of models for diverse stakeholders.
Trading Team Rotation:
In your subsequent assignment within the trading department, you will closely collaborate with traders in one of the aforementioned markets, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the physical value dynamics from traditional supply origins.
Additionally, you will have the chance to explore the primary drivers of the futures market, enabling you to confidently relay market developments and recommend strategic positioning, hedging, and pricing strategies to the commercial team and our clients.
Throughout this period, you will maintain close collaboration with the Market Research team to ensure the accuracy of Supply and Demand data for your area of responsibility, continuously challenging the group's assumptions regarding the region. You will stay informed about production metrics (yield and acreage), consumption, stock levels, import/export flows, and domestic price updates on a monthly and weekly basis.
Daily Activities:
- Develop data, tools, models, and processes for market analysis from diverse sources.
- Manage Supply & Demand balances and models, extracting trends and relative market values.
- Provide actionable insights to the trading and sales teams.
- Collaborate with analysts, traders, and colleagues within the commercial department.
- Extract and structure data to derive relevant information for analytical purposes.
- Propose new data sources, technologies, and innovations to enhance analysis within the Market Intelligence Research team.
- Report findings and communicate with management.
- Develop risk management skills through the management and trading of physical and/or futures positions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants.
- Ensure accurate administration of physical positions, including reporting potential contract issues.
- Compile weekly reports providing insights and analyses of developments, along with concluded business and further trading opportunities.
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Finance, or Commerce.
- Strong interest in Commodity Research and/or Trading.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a related field.
- Excellent organizational and position administration skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an interest in negotiation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Disciplined, open-minded, curious, and capable of making decisions.
- Willingness to travel as required by business needs.
- Proficiency in English and French; additional languages are a plus.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and knowledge of Python or other programming languages are advantageous.
