Safety Specialist for Air Navigation Services

We are seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team at European Satellite Services Provider (ESSP). As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our air navigation services. Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining safety processes, supporting the acquisition and renewal of ESSP certificates, and participating in internal and external audits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining safety processes to ensure the safe operation of our air navigation services
- Supporting the acquisition and renewal of ESSP certificates for air navigation services provision, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Participating in internal and external audits, defining and implementing required action plans to address any safety concerns
- Producing or supporting the elaboration of safety analyses related to systems operated by ESSP, ensuring that all safety risks are identified and mitigated
- Validating manufacturer system designs files regarding safety expectations in anticipation of their future deployment/operations by ESSP, ensuring that all safety requirements are met
Additionally, you will contribute to safety activities related to the delivery of Safety of Life services, including:
- Acting as a safety referent in technical forums and meetings with customers, partners, and competent authorities, providing expert advice on safety matters
- Putting forward safety recommendations/decisions required for operations, ensuring that all safety risks are identified and mitigated
- Assessing safety impacts of deviations to systems operational conditions and/or to specified context of services deliveries, ensuring that all safety risks are identified and mitigated
- Assessing the impact of changes to systems/services/regulations, elaborating the demonstration of their acceptability from a safety perspective, and negotiating their acceptance by the competent authority
In the context of ESSP's development perspective, you will contribute to bid activities for safety matters, provide safety expertise in support/consultancy services to ESSP customers, and participate in R&D topics at early development phases of projects.
Requirements:
- Specialization in safety & dependability activities: failure trees, failure hazard analysis, systems safety analysis, human dependability analyses, FMEA, safety cases...
- Knowledge of system engineering processes and experience in the development of complex systems
- Knowledge of EGNOS system, SBAS, and associated standards, as well as systems/services in relation with Air Traffic Control
- Knowledge of applicable European regulations in aeronautical and space domains (ideally EU 2017/373 regulation)
Education:
- Engineering degree or equivalent
Experience:
- At least 5 years' experience in safety of complex systems in one or several of the following domains: space, aeronautical, air traffic control
Language:
- Very good level of English (minimum B2)
