We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our team at the CNRS, Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for conducting advanced materials characterization techniques, including X-ray and neutron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), EBSD, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and tomography.
Key Responsibilities:- Microstructural Characterization: Expertise in advanced materials characterization techniques, including X-ray and neutron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), EBSD, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and tomography.
- Materials and Powder Science: In-depth knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of powders and materials. Experience in the development, modification, and optimization of these materials for various industrial applications, particularly in advanced forming technologies.
- Energy Transition: Knowledge in adapting materials and industrial processes to meet energy transition needs. Ability to develop sustainable solutions for advanced technologies, such as renewable energy systems.
- Industrial Adaptation and Innovation: Ability to apply scientific and technical knowledge in an industrial context, considering economic and environmental constraints. Experience in R&D project management and technological innovation.
- Engineer specialized in materials science with in-depth knowledge of powders and advanced materials.
- Extensive experience in fine microstructural characterization (including the use of large-scale instruments).
- Ability to apply technical skills in industrial settings, actively contributing to energy transition and sustainable development.
Assistance in changing the industrial chemical synthesis process of inorganic powders (transition to a decarbonized process). Assess the characteristics of materials developed from powders resulting from the new process. Structural characterizations of inorganic powders from chemical synthesis routes by X-ray diffraction (and possibly neutron diffraction). Microstructure characterizations by electron microscopy (MEB and TEM).
The work will take place within the ICGM UMR 5253, located in Montpellier. The RX analysis platforms of the ICGM and the Electron Microscopy platforms of the University of Montpellier will be used for this research work.
