Position Responsibilities

We are seeking a Lead Animation Engineer driven by diverse and expansive gameplay initiatives across PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5 platforms to enhance animation systems with the utmost immersive quality.

The initial task will involve crafting a state-of-the-art architecture for a real-time control rig within an ambitious Unreal Engine 5 project, aligning with the high-quality standards anticipated for future releases.

Key Duties:

  • Assess the requirements of game designers and the animation director to implement various animation states, graphs, and transitions that correspond to intended gameplay mechanics and their physical interactions with the environment (characters, terrain, objects, impacts, etc.);
  • Collaborate with the technical architecture established by the technical director and lead developer;
  • Engage with stakeholders throughout the animation systems development from prototype to final polish;
  • Develop necessary tools and features for animation processing, enabling game designers and animators to access relevant parameters;
  • Work alongside other team members and various development, art, or production teams, whether local or remote;
  • Provide deep expertise in animation programming and disseminate knowledge within the team;
  • Identify optimal solutions for complex challenges;
  • Suggest enhancements to existing functionalities to elevate the overall quality of the game;
  • Deliver clean, well-commented, and structured code while adhering to performance and reliability standards;
  • Integrate any delivered assets (animations, characters, environments, props, cut-scenes, UIs, sounds, special effects, etc.) into the game as needed;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs found in the source code, including those authored by other developers;
  • Analyze performance or memory issues and address them with suitable optimizations;
  • Ensure that the final output meets the expected quality standards;
  • Provide updates on work progress and deliver completed results on schedule, along with any necessary usage information;
  • Prepare technical documentation to explain the developed or analyzed systems when required.

Position Type: Permanent contract.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in runtime animation development for gameplay or equivalent, with a significant background in the video game industry or related real-time applications;
  • Strong understanding of programming languages, particularly C++ and OOP principles;
  • Familiarity with modern game engine architectures;
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and its animation features;
  • Good grasp of how code impacts performance and memory usage;
  • Self-sufficient, efficient, and proactive approach;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficient in both French and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Control Rig;
  • Comfort in optimization processes;
  • Credited in at least one released game.
