At Datadog, we're on a mission to break down silos and solve complexity in the cloud age. As a Staff Engineer on our Real User Monitoring (RUM) team, you'll play a key role in shaping our data platform backend group. Your expertise will help drive new projects and initiatives across the stack, partnering closely with engineering and product managers to help shape our roadmap.

As a technical leader, you'll bring world-class technical abilities to deliver industry-leading systems, as well as experienced technical breadth and communication skills to tackle design and architectural problems spanning the organization. You'll participate in the staff engineering community, helping us learn from what the industry is doing and what we've built before, and improve company-wide standards around software and systems engineering.

We're looking for someone with 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, 4+ years of technical leadership experience, and significant backend programming experience. You'll have architected, built, and operated complex backend systems to solve problems at high scale. A customer-focused mindset and a relentless drive to build products that address their needs are essential.

What You'll Do:
  • Design and drive high-priority, high-visibility projects to make RUM the best frontend monitoring platform on the market.
  • Provide technical leadership across organizational boundaries to ensure maximum delivery efficiency.
  • Lead and guide other engineers through architectural platform decisions.
  • Provide input on prioritizing engineering-led planning and roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with internal product teams to design solutions that meet our customer needs.

What You Are:
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience, including both effective communication of complex concepts and experience coordinating across teams to ship critical products
  • You have significant backend programming experience. You have architected, built, and operated complex backend systems to solve problems at high scale.
  • You have a customer-focused mindset and a relentless drive to build products that address their needs.
  • Experience in building browser or mobile applications is a plus.
