About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team at the European Synchrotron, the ESRF. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the Accelerator Control System, a complex software system that controls the operation of our particle accelerator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software for the accelerator control system, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with physicists and equipment engineers to define and develop feedback algorithms and high-level user interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain graphical user interfaces for the accelerator control system, ensuring user-friendly and intuitive design.
  • Participate in the on-call service duty and/or shift work, ensuring seamless operation of the accelerator control system.
Requirements
  • Higher university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or equivalent.
  • Strong skills in object-oriented software development in Python and C++.
  • Experience with software development methods and continuous integration (Git, DevOps).
  • Demonstrated skills in designing and programming graphical user interfaces.
  • Knowledge of Java, PyQt, matplotlib, or Flask/React is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of working in a Linux environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to integrate into a multidisciplinary and international research team.
  • Proficiency in English, with knowledge of French appreciated.
