Business Context

Within the Airline IT Offer Engineering / Pricing Optimization & Distribution (POD) sector, the Airline Distribution Solutions (ADS) team is at the forefront of developing solutions that empower airlines to market, sell, and manage their products through diverse retail networks, including travel agencies and NDC aggregators. This initiative is part of the new Altea major version, Nevio, which serves as a pivotal commercial entry point for airlines, managing all sales activities outside of their direct websites.

Our flagship offerings, particularly the NDC (New Distribution Capability), represent a transformative shift in the industry, driven by IATA and Group Management. These solutions restore full sales control to airlines, encompassing everything from individual Passenger Name Records (PNRs) to complex group bookings. Designed with an offer-based flow, this is central to the evolution of Nevio, which is recognized as the most significant airline transformation initiative of the decade. This advancement opens avenues for exciting developments, particularly in the realm of offer and price differentiation tailored to customers and channels, which will be a priority for airlines in the coming years.

In addition to the successful development of these products, we play a crucial role in the Nevio program, strategically guiding the future of how airlines will manage the distribution of travel products.

The role presents intriguing challenges, both functional and technical:

  • We oversee comprehensive Altea commercial flows, providing a holistic view of airline operations and facilitating collaboration across various divisions.
  • Our technical scope is broad, ranging from backend development (Java/C++/Quarkus) to frontend technologies (Angular), complemented by data modules, all transitioning to Azure.

By becoming a key contributor to one of Amadeus' primary solution suites, you will influence the future of our airline product offerings.

Role Responsibilities

General Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the budget, performance, and outcomes of a medium-sized team or multiple teams. Influences resource allocation, budget planning, and policy development while establishing concrete growth plans for team members.
  • Maintains a mid to long-term vision for the activity and business, influencing departmental strategy through a comprehensive understanding of the operational landscape. Engages in complex decision-making processes.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy, adhering to management directives and escalating issues only when necessary.

Specific Accountabilities:

Business Acumen

  • Define and communicate the technical and functional team roadmap and vision in alignment with departmental, divisional, and company objectives.
  • Provide regular reports on team activities.
  • Accountable for the performance and results of a unit within your discipline or function.
  • Develop strategies and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Propose alternatives, enhancements, and new methodologies in processes, workflows, operational models, and plans.
  • Moderate impact on the budget concerning business operations.

Decisions are guided by established policies, procedures, and business plans, with guidance from senior management.

Technical Proficiency

  • Efficiently manage the investigation and resolution of production support issues and customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with other software development, architecture, solutions, and QA teams to ensure software systems are designed for testability, stability, scalability, and performance.

Communication Skills

Ensure timely and appropriate communication with team members regarding organizational updates and information.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Engineering degree in a relevant field.
  • Over 7 years of experience in IT, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong technical background, ideally as a software developer, business analyst, or QA professional.
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse international team with various engineering specialties and seniority levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required.
