Immowelt Hamburg GmbH is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of an AWS-based data platform.

As a key member of our Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the organization's data strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency in managing and processing data. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine business needs and drive the evolution of federated data products.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and guide the implementation of the AWS-based data platform, aligning architectural decisions with business goals and strategic priorities.
  • Spearhead the adoption and implementation of decentralized data ownership principles, focusing on delivering value through a proper set of tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine business needs and drive the evolution of federated data products with a keen eye on product outcomes.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new AWS features and services to enhance the platform's capabilities and meet evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with infosec, legal, and enterprise architecture teams to define and enforce data architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, highlighting the impact on business outcomes and the protection of sensitive data.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and unwavering commitment.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record building data platforms and products in AWS environments.
  • Strong business acumen and product-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams and departments.
  • Strong experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as Kafka, Hadoop, and Spark.
  • Experience with data modeling, federation, and governance. This includes but is not limited to establishing data contracts, introducing quality checks, handling PII data, and complying with GDPR.
  • Experience in and strong attitude towards working in platform engineering teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
