Practice Area Overview
BCG's Energy practice assists organizations in navigating a complex business landscape. This practice encompasses the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors, with profound expertise in Energy transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management, and Energy Engineering and Services. Our projects typically leverage BCG's core consulting skills in areas such as digitalization, strategy, organization, or performance enhancement, tailored to the distinctive context of Energy. We also tackle projects that involve operational or technical challenges, delivered by our expert consultants, sometimes in collaboration with external specialists. We engage with senior leaders from prominent international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators, and financial institutions. The Energy Practice has experienced rapid and sustained growth, contributing approximately 10% to BCG's global business volume. Globally, over 300 Partners, Principals, and Project Leaders focus on the Energy sector, supported by a large team of Energy-experienced Consultants and Analysts, many of whom have prior industry experience. Our long-standing reputation for innovative research and thought leadership is well recognized. Consulting with BCG allows you to engage with the most pressing issues faced by senior management, gaining diverse experiences across various clients, topics, and regions.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Associate/Consultant within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will be an integral member of our team, collaborating with some of the industry's leading experts to shape the future of nuclear energy. You will work on challenging projects alongside team members from diverse backgrounds, advising clients on a range of topics, including:
- Assisting governments in formulating their nuclear programs in Western Europe
- Aiding project owners in selecting nuclear technologies for future developments in Eastern Europe
- Supporting Small Modular Reactor (SMR) developers in establishing their global supply chains and accelerating commercial readiness in North America
- Facilitating M&A transactions in the decommissioning sector across Europe
- Defining industrial strategies for the retreatment and recycling of spent nuclear fuel
- Overseeing project recovery for utility-scale nuclear new build initiatives, collaborating with project owners and major contractors
- Assisting nuclear fusion entities in developing their long-term commercial strategies
Qualifications
- 3 to 8 years of experience in the nuclear energy sector, either within a nuclear energy organization or a consulting firm specializing in nuclear energy topics
- A strong passion for the nuclear energy sector
- Proven experience in managing multiple client and stakeholder relationships, with the ability to influence client agendas
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with executive management teams as they implement new visions and drive organizational change
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, high ethical standards, and experience in international environments
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, along with strong leadership presence
