Position Overview
Varenne Capital Partners is a prominent hedge fund managing assets exceeding 3 billion dollars. Our investment philosophy is rooted in proprietary research and the integration of various investment strategies, including Long Equity, Short Equity, Merger Arbitrage, and Tail Risk Hedging. This internship offers a unique opportunity to become part of a well-established and rapidly growing hedge fund, recognized for its consistent success and supported by a diverse and experienced investment team.
Role Responsibilities
The Merger Arbitrage team operates as a specialized fund within the broader organization. This team strategically allocates capital to friendly and publicly announced transactions that exhibit a favorable risk/reward profile. As an intern, your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, including:
- Preparing materials for the weekly investment discussions
- Identifying and evaluating new arbitrage opportunities
- Assisting in the analysis of transactions and participating in investment committees
- Monitoring the performance of the portfolio and the surrounding strategic landscape
- Collaborating with various departments (middle office, risk management, compliance, marketing, etc.)
- Engaging in research and development initiatives
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess an excellent academic record from a prestigious university or business school.
Strong competencies in Financial Analysis and Corporate Finance are essential, with CFA certification being an advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, while familiarity with Bloomberg and VBA is a plus.
Fluency in both spoken and written English is crucial; knowledge of French is advantageous.
A strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and proactive mindset are key attributes we seek.
