The Role
The Financial Operations Controller will collaborate with various operational units across multiple regions and entities. This role is integral to the Central Group Controlling Team and reports directly to the Global Function Controlling Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly Financial Closing:
- Oversee and prepare the monthly financial closing activities for GSF & LSF , ensuring precision and punctuality.
- Create and maintain templates for tracking accruals during the closing period.
- Perform variance analyses to compare actual results against budget and prior year figures.
- Business Review Preparation:
- Develop a presentation for the monthly Business Review tailored to specific functions.
- Provide comprehensive analysis of actual financial outcomes and prepare forecasts for the P&L cost structure.
- Monitor Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) baselines to manage labor costs effectively.
- Facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders (including GSF controller, function heads, and local business controllers) to review costs and financial forecasts.
- Present monthly financial reports to senior management , including members of the Executive Committee (ExCom).
- Budget Management:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop the annual budget for various functions.
- Lead and direct the budget formulation process across GMUs, sub-functions, and entities.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of budget submissions.
- Input the finalized budget into the financial system (AFO).
- Ad Hoc Analysis and Support:
- Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested by the GSF controller.
- Efficiently manage requests , bridging gaps between GSF and local controllers as needed.
- Assist in reconciling and addressing auditor inquiries.
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree or business school qualification with a focus on Finance/Accounting.
- Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel is essential.
- SAP skills (FI-CO-CRM-ESS Cats) are advantageous.
- Knowledge of IFRS/IAS is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a service company or financial institution.
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous, transparent, and detail-oriented.
- Integrity and the ability to raise concerns: controlling and challenging.
- Business acumen, providing support and added value to the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting and discussing with senior management.
- Adaptability: able to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment.
