Lead Innovation in Filtration and Life Sciences at Imerys
As the Filtration & Life Sciences S&T Director, you will spearhead the development of cutting-edge technologies within our EMEA region. Your expertise will drive growth across key markets including Agriculture, Animal Feed, Filtration, Water Treatment, Cat Litter, and Absorbents.
Responsibilities:- Develop innovative solutions for new products, applications, and services within the Filtration & Life Sciences sector.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key customers in the R&D space, fostering collaboration and understanding of their needs.
- Craft a comprehensive S&T plan aligned with market roadmaps, prioritizing technical initiatives to maximize impact.
- Collaborate closely with the Filtration & Life Sciences VP and team to drive new product development (NPD) projects, ensuring successful execution from concept to launch.
- Coordinate seamlessly with Operations, Commercial, Marketing, Business Development, and Technical Services teams to ensure a unified approach across all facets of the business.
- Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration with other PM geographies (Americas, APAC) to avoid duplication of efforts and leverage collective expertise.
- Lead and inspire the Filtration & Life Sciences S&T team through effective management practices, attracting, developing, and retaining top talent within your sphere of influence.
- Serve as a key member of the BA S&T management team in Europe, contributing to strategic decision-making and driving overall success.
- Ensure efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of technology solutions.
- Collaborate with business leaders to drive the portfolio of R&D projects, ensuring project vitality (successful completion of milestones and launches), alignment with market strategy, and NPD sales growth.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment and oversee the acquisition and upkeep of essential lab assets.
- Manage the Opex & Capex budgets for Filtration & Life Sciences S&T labs and team members.
- Foster team and individual growth through coaching, development plans, and mentorship for direct reports.
- Develop and maintain a robust IP portfolio for Filtration & Life Sciences.
Directly manage managers or individual contributors from S&T functions assigned to the Filtration & Life Sciences S&T teams (Engineers or Technicians).
Engage with external stakeholders such as customers, professional associations, scientific communities, universities, and external companies for subcontracting lab work.
Competencies & Experience:- Seasoned S&T (R&D) engineer or PhD holder.
- Proven experience in technology and/or application development.
- Expertise in intellectual property portfolio development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively lead and motivate teams.
- Experience managing scientists and technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch.
- Demonstrated success in delivering results in challenging environments.
- Business acumen with a deep understanding of market dynamics.
- Extensive internal & external technical networks within the polymer and rubber industries.
