Job Description

Safran Tech, a leading international high-technology group, is seeking a highly skilled Research and Technology Engineer to join its Materials and Processes Department. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of an integrated computational methodology for the simulation and understanding of material behaviour at the electronic, molecular or microstructure scales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply computational methods relevant to materials science, such as calculation of phase diagrams, phase-field modelling, molecular mechanics/molecular dynamics, or density functional theory.
  • Build databases and associated machine-learned models to augment material simulations with information extracted from data.
  • Apply simulations and machine learning for the design of new materials or optimisation of manufacturing processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the state-of-the-art in materials science and computational methods.
  • Identify gaps in the current methodology and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with academic or industrial partners to improve the methodology.
  • Protect innovative results by contributing to the redaction of patents.
  • Disseminate results by publishing or presenting at national or international conferences.
Requirements
  • PhD in physics, chemistry, materials sciences, or engineering science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with computational methods relevant to materials science, artificial intelligence, or technology intelligence.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of issues concerning inverse design problems.
  • Knowledge in material-specific problems along the Processing-Structure-Properties-Performance paradigm.
  • Good aptitude in oral and written English.
  • Affinity for teamwork and ability to fit in collaborative projects.
  • Innovation-oriented and able to adapt to a multidisciplinary mindset.
  • Interest in academia and industrial relations.
