About the Project

In the context of the Numpex project called Exadost, in collaboration with Inria Rennes, La Maison de la Simulation, CEA-DAM, and DDN, we are seeking a talented individual to join our team.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled professional to characterize the input/output behavior of applications that have been chosen as representative of the French HPC workload. This characterization will be performed using profiling tools such as Darshan and Tau, tracing tools like Recorder, and by inspecting the source code of the applications. We are also interested in developing I/O kernels, which are codes that mimic the I/O activities of applications and can be used to evaluate them more easily on different platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study documents on the workload of large HPC machines and imposed by known application classes (e.g., machine learning);
  • Execute applications and benchmarks on HPC systems using scripts, process and represent the results graphically;
  • Study large HPC applications (usually written in C/C++ or Fortran) to understand their I/O behavior;
  • Develop I/O kernels and benchmark suites in C/C++ using MPI-IO;
  • Analyze statistical results and modeling (Python or R).
Additional Activities

Writing reports and research documents (LaTeX).

Requirements
  • C/C++;
  • scripting (Bash, Python, etc.);
  • Unix usage: command line, ssh, etc.;
  • plus (not mandatory): HPC system usage, slurm, etc.;
  • experience in research, particularly in the field of high-performance computing, would be an asset.
Benefits
  • Subsidized meals;
  • Partially reimbursed public transportation;
  • 7 weeks of annual leave + 10 days of RTT (full-time basis) + possibility of exceptional leave authorization (e.g., sick children, moving);
  • Partial telecommuting and flexible working hours;
  • Professional equipment available (video conferencing, computer rentals, etc.);
  • Social, cultural, and sports benefits (Association de gestion des œuvres sociales d'Inria).
Salary

Salary based on diplomas and professional experience: €2692 to €3085 gross monthly.
