Within the Group, you will be part of the Group Legal department which consists of four teams: (i) Insurance, Reinsurance & Strategic Projects, (ii) M&A, (iii) Corporate Governance, and (iv) Corporate Finance.

In this department, you will join the Insurance, Reinsurance, and Strategic Projects team, reporting directly to the Senior Financial Regulatory Counsel.

Key Responsibilities :

The primary objective of this role is to offer legal advice and guidance, serving as the Group's center of expertise on financial and insurance regulatory matters that impact the organization at any given time. This position encompasses a comprehensive range of strategic financial and insurance regulatory challenges pertinent to AXA Group's operations.

  • Advisory on Insurance and Financial Regulations :
    • Assessing legal risks to deliver practical, customized, and business-oriented advice that aligns with both commercial goals and compliance with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
    • Drafting presentations and memos while actively participating in internal meetings and committees.
    • Ensuring meticulous structuring, drafting, and/or reviewing of legal documents.
    • Providing insurance and financial regulatory expertise to matters addressed by Group Legal as necessary.
  • Regulatory and Public Affairs :
    • Offering insights on emerging regulations and assisting public affairs and regulatory teams in advocacy and engagement with regulators and trade associations.
    • Advising on the interpretation of existing regulations that may affect the Group (e.g., Solvency II, DORA, IRRD, RIS, MiFID).
  • Strategic and Corporate Advisory :
    • Supporting the broader Group Legal team on significant regulatory issues arising from M&A, corporate simplification, litigation, bancassurance agreements, and data-related matters.
    • Facilitating effective coordination with internal AXA Group functions and external advisors.
  • Thought Leadership :
    • Monitoring emerging legal issues and risks, including providing training to non-legal AXA teams.
    • Networking with legal and market professionals to stay informed about evolving legal, regulatory, and market trends.

Profile
  • Technical Skills and Experience :
    • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a lawyer in a legal department or international law firm.
    • In-depth knowledge of the financial and/or insurance regulatory landscape.
    • Experience in providing advice on multi-jurisdictional issues in an international context.
    • Proficiency in English, with French being an advantage.
