Position Overview

Onsite Requirement: Yes (3 days on site and 2 days remote)

Licorne Society is on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Backend Engineering Manager to lead our backend development team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all backend operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.

As a proactive leader, you will not only guide the technical strategy but also engage directly in coding and system architecture, utilizing your knowledge to inspire innovation and excellence within the team. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining our status as a premier provider of visual solutions.

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • **Team Leadership and Development:** Manage a team of 3-5 backend developers, focusing on effective onboarding, ongoing training, and performance evaluation. Cultivate a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • **Hands-On Technical Leadership:** Actively participate in coding and problem-solving, exemplifying high standards and encouraging innovation within the team.
  • **Code Quality:** Ensure the production of clean, efficient, and thoroughly tested code. Mentor team members in best coding practices.
  • **Backend Architecture:** Lead the enhancement of our backend architecture to guarantee scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
  • **Ownership and Management:** Take charge of essential backend components such as APIs, processing pipelines, and feature development, ensuring their integrity and reliability.
  • **CI/CD Pipeline:** Maintain and refine the CI/CD pipeline for seamless integration, testing, and deployment of code.
  • **Feature Planning:** Direct the architectural design and planning of new features in alignment with product objectives and customer requirements.
  • **Technical Debt and AWS Management:** Proactively address technical debt and manage AWS services to ensure our infrastructure meets operational and growth demands effectively.
Your Profile
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 2+ years in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Python, software architecture, and familiar with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
  • Extensive experience in developing scalable backend systems with a DevOps mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Eager to learn, explore, and take initiative.
