MissionTEAM :
The 'Laboratory of Mechanisms and Therapy of Genetic Brain Diseases', led by Dr. Michela Deleidi, is seeking a skilled engineer to join our innovative team.
Our research aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms associated with genetic brain disorders, linking rare genetic conditions to complex age-related diseases. Utilizing human pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and advanced organoid culture models, we employ single-cell omics to explore the impact of genetic variants related to these diseases. Our ultimate goal is to identify and validate targets with significant potential for diagnostics and therapeutics.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the Innov4ePiK RHU project, which addresses pharmacoresistant epilepsies. This collaborative initiative involves 11 academic and industrial partners, focusing on innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for epileptic and developmental encephalopathies associated with potassium genes. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining iPSCs;
- Implementing neuronal differentiation protocols (both 2D and 3D) and conducting initial characterizations;
- Designing and executing experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry;
- Applying imaging techniques (such as confocal microscopy and live imaging) and performing electrophysiological recordings (MEA, Multielectrode array) in collaboration with partner teams;
- Managing laboratory operations, including procurement of reagents, monitoring consumable expenditures, and negotiating with suppliers for lab equipment and bulk purchases.
POSITION DETAILS :
- Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension;
- Salary commensurate with experience.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Strong background in neuroscience and/or cell biology;
- Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques;
- Experience with cell culture; familiarity with iPSC technology and differentiation is advantageous;
- Preference for candidates with a solid foundation in molecular biology and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing;
- Ability to work independently, develop new techniques, and analyze experimental results is essential;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Team-oriented and results-driven approach;
- Fluency in scientific English;
- Educational qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent from an Engineering School.
