About the Culture SectorThe Culture Sector is responsible for promoting culture and the creative economy, as well as safeguarding cultural and natural heritage. Our mission is to contribute to the development of a culture of peace and human rights, and to promote the values of diversity, tolerance, and respect for cultural heritage.
Job DescriptionAs an intern in the Culture Sector, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and tasks, including:
- Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of Culture programmes and activities
- Contributing to the preparation of documents, reports, work plans, and communication content
- Assisting in conducting research, compiling data, and carrying out analysis
- Participating in meetings, training workshops, events, webinars, and conferences
- Building and maintaining working relationships with other Sectors/Entities, donors/partners, and relevant national and international organizations
This internship is designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as:
- Developing a fundamental understanding of the mission and structure of the UNESCO Culture Sector
- Acquiring an understanding of the mandate of UNESCO and its role in the United Nations System
- Developing skills to elaborate internal and external written materials with diplomatic awareness and professional tone
- Gaining experience working in a multicultural team and for an international organization
- Cultivating communication, social media, and project management skills
To be eligible for this internship, you must:
- Be at least 20 years old
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent) or have recently graduated with a Master's degree or PhD (or second degree as defined above)
- Have an excellent command of English or French, and a working knowledge of the other language is an asset
- Have excellent computer skills and knowledge of office-related software
- Be able to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment
As an intern with UNESCO, you will not receive a salary or any other form of compensation. However, you will be entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during your internship.
