Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team in Paris. As a key member of our EPC Contractor's office, you will be responsible for delivering the Instrument & Control scope of our client's project. Your expertise will ensure that our deliverables are safe, cost-effective, and competitive, conforming to our EPC contract and selected codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and verification of all Instrument, Controls discipline activities performed by Contractor
  • Ensure technical end-to-end solutions for controls, safety, and F&G systems are designed and integrated
  • Work with Contractor during design, package bid evaluation to provide project technical integrity verification
  • Review of Engineering Contractor scopes of work and man-hour estimates for specialist discipline activities as required
  • Experience with HAZOP/LOPA risk assessment and quantification processes
  • Experience with engineering safety instrumented systems in accordance with industry standards
  • Ensure that project functional specification and scope of works requirements are delivered
  • Planning ahead to ensure part-time and shared client/IPMT specialist resources are requested well in advance as required
  • Technical query resolution
  • Technical risk management and mitigation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to project Instruments, control & safety systems and metering discipline
  • Provide input to the engineering content of key project detailed engineering documents produced by the Contractor
  • Supports and in some cases own the engineering content for discipline relevant Tier 3 decisions
  • Oversees the application of project selected engineering codes, standards, and practices
  • Reviews discipline relevant deviations raised by Contractor and recommend as required to the client Lead I&C Engineer
  • Supports integration activities with the Main Automation Contractor (MAC)
  • Work with the lead electrical engineer to support the interface between the electrical switchgear systems
  • Required to work with other core disciplines like Process, Process Safety, Mechanical to verify integrated designs, e.g., control narratives, F&G layouts, ESD hierarchy, model reviews, etc
  • Supports the client PCC Engineering Manager with discipline-specific day-to-day detailed engineering technical challenges
  • Reports into the client Lead I&C Engineer's team
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Chartership/PE status required
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
  • Extensive years of I&C related experience
  • Experienced in contractor management and project delivery in detailed engineering phase of a major project
  • Experience with integration of package vendor systems
  • Deep discipline expertise with good track record of multi-discipline integration
  • Pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered
  • Track record of delivery and able to demonstrate effective project technical management and leadership skills
  • Must have strong general experience with control & safety systems, Fire & Gas systems, digital security, valves, equipment packages controls, and interface
  • Ability to engage and work with projects personnel, stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers
  • Recent experience of working with and influencing EPC contractors
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, Contractors, and project leadership
  • Planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated safety focus with a commitment to continuous improvement in HSSE performance
  • Excellent self-motivation and self-direction with limited guidance
  • Works well with others, able to give and receive constructive feedback
