Job Opportunity

We are inviting applications for a PhD student position in particle physics at Physics World, focusing on heterogeneous computing for the HL-LHC and top quark physics with the CMS experiment at CERN.

Research Focus: The subject of the thesis is twofold: firstly, the analysis of data from the CMS experiment at the LHC in the top-Higgs sector, and secondly, the development of CMS reconstruction software based on a heterogeneous computing architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the analysis of the multilepton ttH final state measurement
  • Develop and implement algorithms for the reconstruction of the tracker detector and the muon system
  • Explore the possibilities of extending this approach to other detector and experiment geometries

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in physics or a related field
  • Good knowledge of particle physics, mathematical methods of data analysis, and computer programming

Work Environment: The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team at Physics World and will have the opportunity to work with leading researchers in the field.
