The architect ensures the coherence of the subsystems, right down to the Component layer.
They engage in discussions and negotiations with the vehicle system architect and other subsystem architects to design functional and logical interfaces within their domain.

Responsibilities include:
- Organizing and leading a design team that includes all relevant stakeholders.
- Managing the identification of needs and negotiating with upstream stakeholders.
- Identifying constraints and opportunities arising from benchmarks, component layers, regulatory changes, and other sources.
