Senior BMS System Architect

Position Overview:
As a Senior BMS System Architect, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading system analysis and conceptualization, conducting feasibility studies, and driving the pre-development of cutting-edge system methodologies and architectures. Your extensive experience in the Battery Management System (BMS) domain, coupled with a profound understanding of customer challenges, will position you as a key interface for system-related inquiries and future architectural developments. You will collaborate closely with marketing and product definition teams to outline our system and product roadmap.
During the product evaluation phase, you will ensure a thorough comprehension of customer requirements and lead the formulation of corresponding system proposals utilizing NXP BMS products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the definition and evaluation of prospective BMS system architectures.
- Develop high-level functional product specifications aligned with customer needs.
- Conduct benchmarking of various architectures and explore design spaces to identify optimal trade-offs in cost, performance, power, and die size.
- Oversee design win initiatives in partnership with applications, sales, marketing, and field application engineers. Manage the technical aspects of customer RFI responses.
- Foster strong working relationships with key clients.
- Lead the exploration of potential innovation areas at the system, architecture, and software levels.
- Assist in defining the scope and content of future BMS reference designs and demonstrations.
- Acquire an in-depth understanding of the BMS market to generate product ideas and feature requests for upcoming devices.
Qualifications:
- Education: BSEE required, MSEE preferred.
- Over 10 years of experience in system engineering and product design within automotive BMS applications.
- Expertise in automotive BMS systems with a proven track record.
- Prior experience with Automotive OEMs or Tier 1/2 suppliers in defining, implementing, or supporting Battery Management Systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with automotive quality (AEC-100) and reliability standards, safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA), and functional safety standards such as ISO26262 is preferred.
- Experience working in international and interdisciplinary teams.
- Proactive attitude with a strong desire to engage and contribute.
- Robust business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Exceptional analytical skills to understand, model, and analyze electronic circuits and systems, proposing innovative semiconductor solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (knowledge of German or French is a plus).
- Willingness to travel for customer and internal team meetings up to 20% of the time.
