Within the Grid Solutions sector, the Grid Systems Integration (GSI) division is responsible for the comprehensive development of products, business strategies, sales initiatives, project management, and services related to high voltage alternative solutions, FACTS, and Direct Current systems. This includes Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services.

Our primary clientele includes global Transmission, Distribution, and Power Generation Utilities, along with various Industrial stakeholders. Project values typically range from several hundred thousand dollars to the billion-dollar spectrum.

The GSI division's Profit and Loss accountability is organized by geographical regions, with the North & South Europe (NSE) region covering countries such as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Israel, and Romania. The average order intake for GSI in NSE is between $1 billion and $2 billion, managed by a dedicated Commercial & Tendering Team of approximately 30 professionals.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • The Capture Team Leader (CTL) will concentrate on tendering and sales activities for GSI's large and complex projects, primarily in HVDC.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external clients and partners throughout the tendering process.
  • Oversee non-technical global business functions, including tendering strategy, pricing, and commercial/legal negotiations, ensuring adherence to internal validation processes and Delegation of Authority.

Essential Duties

Drive the commercial strategy to achieve order intake and associated cash flow:

  • Contribute to regional goals for orders, contribution margin, and down payment targets, being accountable for the bids led.
  • Actively participate in the GSI NSE Commercial & Tendering organization.
  • Manage forecasts for deals within the scope of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement strategies that distinguish our offerings from competitors in the eyes of clients.
  • Work closely with the Region OTR leadership to develop strategies and target costing for preparing, submitting, and negotiating winning proposals for specific opportunities, ensuring they are executable within budget and timelines.
  • Lead deal reviews and approvals in line with the established delegation of authority, up to the corporate level.
  • Ensure compliance with ITO Policy processes, including rigorous risk management.

Leadership in Tender Management

  • Coordinate the NSE Region's commercial and proposal management teams, Product Delivery Groups, other Grid Solution divisions, and consortium partners to deliver high-quality proposals and timely clarification responses.
  • Identify and allocate resources necessary for tender preparation and submission.
  • Provide hands-on leadership for ongoing deals and foster the development of high-performing ITO tender teams through effective talent acquisition and training.

Negotiation of Complex Tenders

  • Drive and support HVDC business development initiatives with assistance from GSI tendering and expert teams from the early identification stages of opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales team members to facilitate clarification and discussions regarding offers.
  • Lead the final negotiation process for deals in conjunction with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • In partnership with the Region OTR team and other stakeholders, lead consortium negotiations and alignments as necessary.

Process Improvement and Compliance

  • Manage and enhance regional operating metrics, such as productivity, proposal throughput, cost accuracy, and cycle time measures.
  • Ensure compliance with integrity and EHS standards.
  • Support and drive global initiatives aimed at process simplification, including participation in global ITO improvement initiatives and bid prioritization.
  • Maintain effective communication among all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Extensive experience in a leadership role within sales, tendering, or operations.
  • Experience in Grid Solutions and Turnkey projects is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.

Desired Skills

  • Significant experience in sales, commercial operations, risk management, or marketing.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication in English and German.
  • Strong presentation abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial levers for contractual obligations and their management throughout the contract duration.
  • Ability to manage complex daily activities across multiple work streams with a focus on issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with contract management principles and the ability to shape deals effectively.
  • Capacity to build relationships that foster viable client solutions.
