About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Engineering and Construction team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in machinery breakdown and renewable energy, and will be responsible for assessing, proposing, and negotiating insurance conditions for large and mid-sized projects in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, building, and heavy civil works sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and propose insurance conditions for large and mid-sized projects in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, building, and heavy civil works sectors.
- Work closely with our French team to develop and implement insurance solutions for clients and brokers.
- Drive and support the sustainability ambitions of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
- Assess risks, coverage, terms, and conditions, and drive the related underwriting processes.
- Act as a point of reference on technical issues in the region and stay up-to-date on new technologies and market trends.
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategies for the region and represent Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in meetings with brokers and clients.
- Support the growth of associated lines of business by actively cross-selling the capabilities of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
About You
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Underwriter with a strong background in machinery breakdown and renewable energy. The successful candidate will have excellent sales and negotiation skills, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. They will be able to work under pressure and manage a high workload, and will be willing to travel occasionally.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or process engineering, or minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional engineer in the industry.
- At least 5 years of experience in Construction & Engineering and/or Power & Utility in the insurance industry.
- Strong team player, business acumen, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Good broker and client network.
- Excellent negotiating/communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills and high proficiency with common IT applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a high workload.
- Willing to travel occasionally.
