Paris, Île-de-France Rambus, Inc. Temps plein

Rambus, a leading provider of chip and silicon IP solutions, is on the lookout for a talented Principal Security Hardware Engineer to enhance our Security IP division. This role involves collaborating with some of the most innovative minds in the industry to create products that enhance data security and performance.

In this position, you will report directly to the Security Engineering Manager and will be engaged in a full-time capacity. Your responsibilities will include working alongside ASIC engineers and architects, as well as specialists in security, cryptography, verification, and software engineering to design, implement, and integrate digital hardware for the CryptoManager Root-of-Trust product and the Crypto Cores product line, which encompasses Post-Quantum cores and those equipped with DPA and FIA countermeasures.

Location: In-office work with hybrid options available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement hardware IP blocks at the RTL level using Verilog, contributing to Rambus Security's IP offerings (Root of Trust, cryptographic cores, etc.).
  • Design countermeasures for side-channel analysis (SCA) and fault injection attacks (FIA) applicable to both symmetric and public-key cryptographic hardware cores.
  • Support DPA and Fault evaluations.
  • Innovate and publish new methodologies in SCA countermeasures, fault resistance, and efficient hardware designs.
  • Represent Rambus Security at global workshops and conferences.
  • Produce both internal and external documentation.
  • Collaborate with verification engineers to develop test plans and assist in debugging processes.
  • Engage in EDA tool-related activities, including synthesis, static timing analysis, logical equivalency checking, and continuous integration, while enhancing workflows and scripts.
Required Qualifications

Experience and Skills

  • A Master's or PhD in electrical or computer engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in secure hardware design; a PhD may compensate for the experience requirement.
  • Proven expertise in Verilog and digital design.
  • Familiarity with front-end ASIC design processes, including design, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and linting/rule checking; experience with back-end processes, particularly place-and-route, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in some or all of the following areas is preferred:
  • Understanding of hardware security architectures and IPs (secure MCU cores, cryptographic co-processors, secure memories, secure elements, smart cards).
  • Design and implementation of efficient cryptographic algorithms.
  • Experience with side-channel and fault attacks and their countermeasures.
  • High-performance CPU architecture and design.
  • Techniques for clock and reset domain crossing.
  • Experience in hardware development within UNIX/Linux environments, including shell scripting and basic Perl scripting.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical writers to produce comprehensive technical documentation.

Tools/Technologies

  • Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, and Perl.
  • Experience with shell scripting, Python, and Tcl.
  • Familiarity with Unix and Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Xilinx Vivado.
  • Experience with front-end ASIC design tools and simulation.

Personal Attributes

  • Capable of thriving in an international, team-oriented, and collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a dynamic and innovative setting.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Committed to writing clean, maintainable code that adheres to established coding standards.
