About the Role
As an Accountant, your key duty will be to oversee financial records and generate financial statements for regional offices. You will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and provide insights based on financial analyses to support strategic decision-making. Collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization will be essential to achieve organizational and project objectives.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing all financial and accounting transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow forecasting, monthly journals, and accruals.
- Managing the month-end closing process and regularly monitoring outstanding items, such as Trial Balance reviews, advance payments, deposits, travel & expenses, credit card transactions, debtors, creditors, cash journals, assets, and liquidations.
- Administering bank balances and fund requirements while performing monthly account reconciliations.
- Managing budgets and forecasts effectively.
- Overseeing FTE/timesheet management.
- Coordinating and responding to both external and internal audits related to banking, accounting, budgeting, and finance, ensuring timely implementation of all audit recommendations.
- Maintaining proper organization of all finance files and ensuring their archiving.
- Ensuring consistent application of WorldFish's financial policies and procedures across country offices.
Regional Responsibilities
- Assisting country offices in preparing annual budgets and forecasts accurately and promptly.
- Supporting the Regional Finance Manager in enhancing the efficiency of country office operations.
- Reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for country offices.
- Assisting with monthly financial reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with local statutory reporting and taxation requirements in country offices.
- Undertaking any additional responsibilities related to the financial affairs of the Center as assigned by the Regional Finance Manager.
Qualifications
This position may be suitable for you if you possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, along with membership in a recognized international accounting institute.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive post-qualification experience in finance.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience working collaboratively within a regional or global organization.
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teamwork within a matrixed work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in written English.
- Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Windows-based software packages, especially MS Excel.
- Familiarity with reputable ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience with ERP systems (Agresso preferred).
- Knowledge of non-profit financial accounting, planning, and budgeting.
- Understanding of income tax and VAT computation.
