FACULTY RECRUITMENT PROFILE

Position Overview: The Department of Languages and Cultures at CentraleSupélec is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic English Educator with a focus on English for Professional Environments. This is a full-time, permanent faculty role.

Role Summary: The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in English language instruction, coupled with skills in project management and possibly recruitment. A deep understanding of the current dynamics of the workplace, viewed through both critical and intercultural lenses, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement a forward-thinking educational program that emphasizes the relevance of workplace communication and the necessity of intercultural competencies in professional contexts.
  2. Facilitate student engagement with real-world communication challenges in a rapidly evolving job market, creating hands-on workshops that address these issues.
  3. Prepare students for the annual CentraleSupélec Forum by providing tailored workshops on CV writing and interview techniques throughout the academic year.
  4. Collaborate with other academic departments, particularly in aligning language instruction with third-year specialization tracks, ensuring a unified educational approach.
  5. Establish connections with alumni who work in English-speaking environments, allowing them to share insights and potential collaborative opportunities with the department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. A Master's degree or a substantial professional portfolio demonstrating equivalent knowledge and teaching methodologies.
  2. An English language teaching qualification or proof of ongoing professional development within the language education community.
  3. A minimum of C2 level proficiency in English.
  4. At least 5 years of experience teaching English to higher education and adult learners; experience in STEM fields is advantageous.
  5. Relevant experience in project management, learning and development, or human resources is preferred.

Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a three-stage interview process to evaluate their fit for the role:

  1. Presentation of Professional Background and Teaching Portfolio: Candidates will showcase their qualifications and relevant experience in English Language Teaching.
  2. Lesson Demonstration: A 10-minute presentation illustrating a 90-minute lesson plan for English in the Workplace.
  3. Discussion with Committee Members: Candidates will engage in a dialogue with committee members about their educational philosophy and vision for the role.
