Research Opportunity at ESRF
ESRF is seeking an Experimental Researcher to join the team at the Nuclear Resonance Scattering (ID14) beamline. The successful candidate will be enrolled in XXX University / Doctoral School and will work on the ERC-funded project LECOR (Light Elements in the Core). The project aims to refine compositional models of the Earth's inner core, focusing on the nature of its light elements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments to determine the elastic and plastic properties of various iron-bearing alloys and compounds at conditions of the deep Earth's interior.
- Perform experiments at high-pressure-temperature conditions at ID14 and other beamlines specializing in extreme conditions.
- Collaborate with a team of 7 people to advance scientific knowledge in the field.
Requirements:
- MSc, Master 2 de Recherche, Laurea, or equivalent degree allowing enrollment for a PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a closely related field.
- Experience in high pressure, solid-state physics, nuclear resonance scattering, x-ray diffraction, and/or other synchrotron techniques is desirable.
- Proficiency in English and computational skills.
Working Conditions:
- Enrolled in XXX University / Doctoral School as a condition of hiring.
- Two-year contract renewable for one year.
