ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Junior/Mid-Level Data Pipeline Engineer to contribute to our dynamic organization. The successful candidate will possess a solid understanding of data engineering concepts, experience in developing data pipelines, and a keen interest in managing extensive datasets. You will collaborate closely with our data scientists, software engineers, agricultural scientists, and other key stakeholders to maintain the integrity, efficiency, and accessibility of our data assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and sustain scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows.
  • Integrate data from diverse sources, ensuring high standards of data quality and consistency.
    • Data from laboratory instruments (e.g., GS-MS, SPME)
    • Textual data
    • Visual data
    • Additional plant health metrics (e.g., NDVI, LAI)
  • Work alongside data scientists and analysts to fulfill their data requirements.
  • Enhance data workflows and boost data processing performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve data-related challenges.
  • Engage in code reviews and contribute to maintaining a robust codebase.
  • Continuously explore and implement new data engineering technologies and best practices.
  • Oversee and deploy databases and data lakes.
  • Establish data governance strategies for cross-functional applications.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 2 years of experience in data engineering or 5 years as a data engineer.
  • Proficient in SQL and NoSQL database systems.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend).
  • Experience with Elasticsearch is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud services (e.g., AWS) is a plus.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; knowledge of Go is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in data modeling and database architecture.
  • Understanding of data lakes.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data analytics tools.
