Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Application Engineer to join our team at Westblatchington. As a Senior Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our customers in the field of electrical machines and powertrains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical pre-sales support to customers, including product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
  • Lead project teams to create differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products.
  • Deploy solutions within customers' design workflows and mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to guide Ansys product roadmap.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives to further enhance Ansys technology, processes, and people skills.
  • Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations, and contribute to consulting services.

Requirements

  • BS or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in an engineering software environment.
  • Demonstrated use of Ansys Motor-CAD and/or Ansys Maxwell or knowledge of other relevant commercial software packages for analysis of electrical machines and/or electric powertrain systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development experience on electrical machines and/or electric powertrain systems, preferably within an OEM or TIER1 environment.
  • Subject Matter Expert in electrical machines and/or electric powertrain systems, is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers.
  • Experience with building solutions using simulation technology and deploying those solutions within customers' engineering workflows.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects which are complex in nature, possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS, MS, or PhD+7.
  • 4 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer-facing roles using engineering software.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a wider engineering team developing electric powertrains, understanding challenges in requirements and product development/design processes.
  • Fluent in German.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and the software development process.
  • Knowledge of Python, Linux operating system, High performance computing.
