Portfolio Management Analyst

Our team within the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) office is seeking a talented individual.

Our mission is to enhance portfolio oversight, underwriting analytics, and governance for the APAC (Asia Pacific) and European Business Unit at XL Catlin.

We collaborate closely with Product CUOs (Chief Underwriting Officers), Actuarial, Reserving, Finance, Ceded, and other departments to support, influence, and drive the success of respective product portfolios (totaling approximately 6 billion in Gross Written Premium) while leading transversal initiatives for the CUO office to contribute to the overall success of the APAC and European Business Unit in underwriting.

We are currently in search of a temporary Portfolio Management Analyst to join the CUO Office team for a duration of 6 months.

The team is structured into two main areas: (1) Portfolio Management and Underwriting Analytics and (2) Transversal projects, Governance, Dublin Hub, and DUAs.

You will be involved in the Casualty lines of business, supporting the Head of Portfolio Management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Your portfolios:
  • Analyzing and monitoring your assigned product portfolio.
  • Collaborating with the Underwriting Analytics team in the CUO office to provide ad-hoc portfolio analyses.
  • Assisting product CUOs with operational objectives and key projects, including long-term portfolio management strategies.
  • Supporting product CUOs in the financial planning process and the strategic construction of the portfolio.
  • Participating in the review and updates of ongoing underwriting product strategies.
  • Transversal:
  • Driving transversal initiatives for the CUO Office, such as Underwriting Business Reviews for various lines of business and the overall business unit, inception dates reporting, portfolio analyses, and thematic reviews (e.g., country portfolio analysis), assisting in ceded reinsurance renewals, influencing reserving valuations, etc.
  • Leading the execution of key strategic initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams (actuarial, data, IT, claims, etc.).

You will report directly to the Head of Portfolio Management.
