Position Title: Senior Research Associate - Innovations in Water, Energy, and Climate

Organization: International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA)

The Senior Research Associate will collaborate with the Soil, Water, and Agronomy Team to devise and implement groundbreaking strategies aimed at improving energy efficiency and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions within the agricultural sector. This role encompasses conducting field experiments, gathering data, and engaging with stakeholders to advocate for sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and carry out research trials focused on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) nexus
  • Oversee technical operations in the field and manage trial coordination
  • Perform data collection, monitoring, and maintenance of research equipment
  • Adopt innovative methodologies for enhancing energy efficiency and addressing climate change
  • Engage with partners in the irrigation industry
  • Draft technical reports and contribute to scientific publications
  • Support the capacity building of local partners

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Master's degree in agricultural water management or a related discipline

Professional Experience: 2-4 years of experience in executing field trials and designing irrigation systems

Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, Arabic, and French

Competencies: Excellent teamwork, communication skills, and adaptability

Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel frequently and possess a valid driver's license
