Project ContextThe Experimentation and Development Service (SED) at Inria focuses on creating, maintaining, and distributing multidisciplinary software platforms in partnership with research teams. You will be part of the PREMEDICAL project team, a collaborative group of Inria and Inserm researchers specializing in statistics, machine learning, and AI, alongside clinicians. This team uniquely integrates doctoral candidates in applied mathematics with medical expertise, enhancing the intersection of technology and healthcare.
PREMEDICAL is dedicated to advancing precision medicine through causal learning and federated learning while ensuring the confidentiality of medical data. The team's goals include expediting the market availability of targeted therapies and developing decision support algorithms with precise confidence quantification.
Project OverviewThe TRAUMATRIX initiative aims to gather, process, and utilize data from patients experiencing trauma, such as those involved in accidents. Detailed information is collected from the moment of patient care until hospital discharge, facilitating the development of causal machine learning algorithms to assess treatment effectiveness and recommend therapeutic strategies.
Statistical challenges include managing incomplete data and quantifying uncertainty to guide patients to appropriate care facilities promptly.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs part of this project, your contributions will include:
Backend Development for TRAUMATRIX:- Consolidating and ensuring the quality of Traumabase data to create a unified dataset for statistical analysis and AI algorithm development.
- Enhancing existing causal machine learning algorithms.
- Generalizing implementations for specific application frameworks.
- Documenting predictive models and data formalization processes.
- Implementing a proof of concept for federated learning in collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
The frontend will encompass web and mobile applications primarily utilized by clinical partners.
- Maintaining and evolving a web application for real-time patient management and predictive model outputs, with established mockups and a backlog ready for deployment.
- Creating an interactive dashboard for clinicians to visualize data from various centers.
- Transforming visual mockups into cross-platform mobile applications that interact with the backend through shared APIs.
The selected engineer will dedicate their efforts entirely to software platform development, employing agile methodologies (SCRUM or simplified agile as appropriate).
Benefits- Partial reimbursement for public transport costs.
- Generous leave policy: 7 weeks of annual leave plus 10 additional days off due to RTT.
- Flexible working hours and the possibility of telecommuting.
- Provision of professional equipment, including videoconferencing tools and computer equipment.

- Access to professional training opportunities.
- Contribution to mutual insurance (subject to conditions).
Starting from €2692 gross monthly, depending on qualifications and experience.
Minimum Requirements- Proficiency in software development, particularly in:
- Understanding object-oriented design and programming paradigms, especially Design Patterns.
- Implementing compilation methods, version control, continuous integration, and testing in an agile environment.
- Effective communication with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborating successfully within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrating autonomy and initiative in personal organization.
- Strong command of written and spoken English and French.
- Excellent writing skills in both languages.
- Interest in health applications and familiarity with statistics is advantageous.
