Job Summary

As a Faunal Ecologist with a specialization in Entomology, you will be responsible for conducting field studies and your missions will include:

  • Preparing and conducting field inventories of natural habitats in autonomy for the following taxonomic groups:
  • Insects (mainly Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Odonata, and Coleoptera);
  • Reptiles and amphibians;
  • Mammals;
  • Recognizing habitats of species.


Writing reports of your field observations.


Writing naturalistic diagnoses to characterize the issues related to fauna, and writing impact studies according to the ERC sequence.


Conducting ecological follow-ups of construction and exploitation sites.


You will be guided by the Project Manager for the framing of the service, and the Study Manager for the methodologies used.


We involve everyone in the life of the company. You can also take transverse responsibilities to progress the methodological tools of the pole and the frames, develop missions and expertise, become a mentor or tutor for new arrivals, become a reference person within the company for a theme or tool.

Requirements

You hold a Bac + 3 to Bac + 5 degree in Environment, Ecology.

You have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in an environmental consulting office.

You are autonomous in the field and can identify, as exhaustively as possible, species and their habitats using various techniques (sight, sound, recognition of indices), and their habitats (recognition of nesting, feeding, resting uses).

You can characterize the patrimoniality of species and their habitats according to the territory in which you observe them, and can highlight issues.

You can perfectly explain your observations in writing, with clear syntax, well-spelled, and synthetic when necessary.

You can use a GIS software, and you are comfortable with Word.

You are organized, work with care, and can evolve in a team with what that requires communication and solidarity.

About ARTIFEX

ARTIFEX is an environmental engineering and consulting company with its headquarters in Albi (81). We also have 5 agencies in Rodez (12), Montélimar (26), Clermont-Ferrand (63), Saintes (17), and Dijon (21).

The Biodiversity Pole

The biodiversity pole, composed of 45 people with specific faunal, botanical, or chiropterological skills, conducts naturalistic expertise in various fields of activity: quarries, photovoltaic parks, wind farms, urban planning documents, and all other developments that have an impact on species and their habitats. More specific studies, in the field of ecological conservation, are also implemented.

We contribute, in collaboration with other poles, to the study of ecological impacts and the development of proposals and adapted solutions at the different stages of a project:

  • Feasibility: choosing a site for implantation, taking into account the ecological sensitivities of the territory.
  • Project Design: designing based on the ERC sequence carried by ecological impact studies, protected species permits, etc.
  • Administrative Authorizations: accompaniment and advice.
  • Construction and Ecological Engineering: ecological follow-up of construction sites for the good integration of naturalistic issues within the work teams, follow-up of ecological engineering sites.
  • Exploitation: ecological follow-up to measure the effectiveness and relevance of ecological measures, the evolution of habitats and species populations.
  • End-of-Life: ecological arrangements to allow biodiversity enrichment.
