- Advanced degree (PhD/Master's/Engineering) in environmental studies, social sciences, land-use rights, sustainable development, forestry, agriculture, or conservation.
- 10 to 15 years of substantial field experience in project implementation and management with local communities, particularly in the AFOLU sector (Agriculture, Forestry & Land-Use).
- In-depth knowledge of Land-use, Human Rights, and Environmental Rights within the context of developing nations.
- Proven experience in leading Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), particularly utilizing World Bank and International Finance Corporation standards.
- Familiarity with co-benefits management tools and certification processes is advantageous (High Conservation Value, FPIC approach, FSC / RSPO / other environmental standards, CCB standard).
- Knowledge of the voluntary carbon market and carbon certification standards is beneficial.
- Established network and reputation in relevant fields are considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
- Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of French is preferred, and Spanish or Portuguese or other regional languages is a plus.
Contribute to Strategic Vision Development
- Assist in the selection process of operations to create a balanced portfolio aimed at achieving carbon credit production goals.
- Ensure deliverables align with TotalEnergies and TENBS strategic objectives.
- Aid in formulating TENBS's positioning and commitments regarding ESG, co-benefits, and Benefit Sharing Mechanisms.
- Participate in developing stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Engage in reputational risk management by preparing public communications and Q&A for signed operations.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Carbon Expertise to structure investment opportunities.
- Lead ESG development studies (prospect, preliminary/feasibility, conceptual or pre-project), due diligence, and Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, as well as co-benefits certifications (CCB, SD Vista, Gold Standard, FSC, etc.).
- Prepare specifications for studies (content, deliverables, schedule, and budget).
- Coordinate activities and contributions from various external service providers during study execution.
- Define and lead comparative analyses to determine optimal forestry and agricultural practices concerning Human Rights, FPIC, Governance, and Social/Environmental/Biodiversity co-benefits, and synthesize recommendations to enhance those co-benefits for each carbon credit produced.
- Participate in data rooms and due diligence activities to support information gathering initiated by business development.
- Supervise the implementation of Environmental & Social Management Plans and associated tools.
- Collaborate closely with the Carbon Expertise team for validation and verification audits concerning co-benefits standards (CCB, SDVista, Gold Standard, FSC, etc.), including managing Validation & Verification Bodies and Developers.
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes for Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) of co-benefits within the TENBS portfolio of operations.
- Conduct competitive intelligence on international and sectoral negotiations related to biodiversity, environmental, and social issues, as well as methodological and technological innovations.
- Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and feedback within the team.
