- Advanced degree (PhD/Master's/Engineering) in environmental studies, social sciences, land-use rights, sustainable development, forestry, agriculture, or conservation;
- 10 to 15 years of substantial field experience in managing and executing projects with local communities, particularly in the AFOLU sector (Agriculture, Forestry & Land Use);
- In-depth knowledge of Land-use, Human Rights, and Environmental Rights within the context of developing nations;
- Proven experience in leading Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), particularly utilizing World Bank and IFC standards;
- Familiarity with co-benefits management tools and certification processes is advantageous (High Conservation Value, FPIC approach, FSC / RSPO / other commodities environmental standards, CCB standard);
- Knowledge of the voluntary carbon market and carbon certification standards is beneficial;
- Established network and reputation in relevant fields are considered an asset;
- Willingness to travel internationally;
- Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of French is preferred, while Spanish, Portuguese, or other regional languages are advantageous.
Strategic Vision Development
- Assist in the selection process of operations to create a balanced portfolio aimed at achieving carbon credit production goals;
- Ensure deliverables align with TotalEnergies and TENBS strategic objectives;
- Contribute to the formulation of TENBS's positioning and commitments regarding ESG, co-benefits, and Benefit Sharing Mechanisms;
- Participate in the development of stakeholder engagement strategies;
- Aid in managing reputational risks by preparing public communications and Q&A for approved operations.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Carbon Expertise to structure investment opportunities;
- Lead ESG development studies (prospect, preliminary/feasibility, conceptual or pre-project), Due Diligences, and Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, along with co-benefits certifications (CCB, SD Vista, Gold Standard, FSC...);
- Draft study specifications (content, deliverables, schedule, and budget);
- Coordinate the activities and contributions of various external service providers during study execution;
- Define and conduct comparative analyses to determine optimal forestry and agricultural practices concerning Human Rights, FPIC, Governance, and Social/Environmental/Biodiversity co-benefits, synthesizing recommendations to enhance co-benefits for each carbon credit produced;
- Participate in data-rooms and due diligence processes to support information gathering initiated by business development.
- Oversee the implementation of Environmental & Social Management Plans and associated tools;
- Collaborate closely with the Carbon Expertise team for validation and verification audits concerning co-benefits standards (CCB, SDVista, Gold Standard, FSC...): managing contracts with Validation & Verification Bodies and Developers (PDD, Monitoring Report);
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes for Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) of co-benefits across the TENBS portfolio.
- Conduct competitive intelligence on international and sectoral negotiations regarding biodiversity, environmental, and social issues, as well as methodological and technological innovations, competitive benchmarks, FPIC, and HCVs, through research and active networking at external conferences and events related to the sector;
- Facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and feedback within the team.
- Represent the organization at technical committees, conferences, and seminars as necessary.
