**Location:** Remote (with occasional travel to offshore wind farms)

We are seeking an experienced Senior HV Cable Engineer to join our team in the offshore wind business of a leading multinational developer in the renewable energy industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define technical requirements, improvements, and maintenance strategies for electrical equipment, with a focus on high-voltage cables (HV cables), to maximize asset availability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to O&M engineering, assistance, and recommendations to ensure delivery of mid-to-large-scale O&M works within time, budget, and quality, following industry best practices and observing maximum respect for Health, Safety, and the Environment.
  • Identify and claim technical defects found in electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, and participate actively in the claim process with the OEM.
  • Identify technical risks in the business due to the condition of electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, and define necessary actions to eliminate or mitigate these risks.
  • Evaluate O&M solutions and risk levels affecting technical integrity or asset performance and provide mitigation recommendations to ensure cost-effective O&M solutions are identified and implemented.
  • Assess technical issues/incidents related to electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, and perform troubleshooting to determine root causes and implement necessary actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Monitor and supervise preventive/corrective activities carried out in electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, to guarantee wind farm availability and ensure required works quality and contract conditions are fulfilled.
  • Produce necessary procedures to guarantee maintenance activities are fully deployed, implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements.
  • Ensure all assessments, advice, and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with internal procedures and industry best practice, and sufficient technical and commercial due diligence exists to support business decisions.
  • Support Design Reviews, FAT, and SAT activities for HV & MV cables (33kV – 400kV).
  • Identify and manage critical spares (cable & accessories) to manage risk exposure.
Regulation and Legal Requirements:
  • Ensure applying legal requirements affecting electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, are completely fulfilled as per conditions defined by local official bodies in the country where the wind farm stands.
  • Work with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for O&M works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.
Coordination:
  • Coordinate activities and standardize best practices in the Global O&M Offshore.
  • Extend lessons learned and best practices to other Hubs within the O&M Offshore Business. Assist and coordinate with employees working within a number of countries throughout Europe (UK, Germany, France, Spain...) and USA to ensure project execution with intelligent and cost-effective resourcing.
  • Coordinate maintenance strategies for electrical systems with other Offshore O&M Hubs (UK and USA) to implement uniformed, global, and standardized solutions.
  • Coordinate execution of maintenance activities with local Iberdrola Site staff based in the wind farm to ensure these activities are carried out safely, timely, and with required quality.
  • Regarding new wind farm projects (under development and construction), define, alongside the project team and Principal Manager for Transmission Equipment in Operations Engineering, best solutions to be implemented so that Operation and Maintenance activities will be as efficient as possible once the wind farm enters into the commercial operation phase. Provide key and strategic advice, assessment, and recommendations to the business giving input and support to the projects throughout the whole life cycle (development to decommissioning).
  • Coordinate electrical equipment, with a focus on HV cables, maintenance strategy with other Hubs within the Global Offshore O&M Business, i.e., UK and USA, standardizing global approaches.
  • Manage personnel under self-remit, identify their training needs, and put in place necessary actions to fulfill those gaps.
  • Interact, within the scope of own responsibilities, with Global Technical Services, OEM, Offshore Site teams, grid operators, certifiers, and regulatory bodies to deploy highest efficient and technical capability relationship.
Contract & Procurement:
  • Provide input on appropriate bid levels/commercial strategies and commercial agreements relative to projects. Provide key input in the preparation of investment dossiers for all funding requests for projects.
  • Produce technical specifications (scope of works) and technical evaluations of bidders as required, playing an active role in the procurement processes so that the most technically qualified providers are selected.
  • Manage effectively assigned maintenance contracts, contributing to maximize financial business results throughout the reduction of operating costs and execution of high-quality maintenance activities.
Experience & Skills:
  • Considerable experience in HVAC & HVDC cables design or manufacturing (particularly subsea cables).
  • Experience of contracting, engineering design, or delivery.
  • HV cable installation, testing, and maintenance (subsea and above sea inspections).
  • Experience in HV joints/termination and connections.
  • Renewables/O&G/Marine experience.
  • Some track record in operation and maintenance delivery.
  • Engineering industry, academia, or consultancy.
  • Part of global teams for multitask, international projects.
  • Management of contract.
  • Working on offshore wind farms.
  • Desirable knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation associated with marine/offshore operations projects.
  • Fluent English.
