Position: Mechanical Testing and Tribology Apprentice
The Mechanical Testing and Tribology Laboratory is dedicated to performing intricate assessments to gather essential material data for the design of engine components. This role is centered on tribological evaluations, which involve the study of friction and contact phenomena. The lab is outfitted with several testing stations that simulate the types of damage typically encountered in engines. These seven distinct benches are designed to operate in various ways, each serving a specific function to replicate the diverse frictional interactions found in aircraft engines.
The primary objective of this apprenticeship is to acquire knowledge and proficiency in these testing techniques, leading to a deeper comprehension of turbomachine functionality. As the apprentice progresses, opportunities for development tasks will be provided, tailored to their level of independence and expertise. These tasks may include designing tools, modifying testing protocols or programs, and integrating additional instrumentation into tests.
Equipped with a machining workshop and 3D printing facilities, the testing lab supports nearly complete project execution from the initial concept to final implementation. The varied environment of the lab fosters a rewarding experience for the apprentice. Working alongside mechanical testing within the same department as machining, composite fabrication, and thermal processing offers a comprehensive exposure to the field of materials and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Task 1: Acquaintance with the abradable/erosion testing station
- Task 2: Assistance and troubleshooting of the new High-Temperature abradable testing station
- Task 3: Collaboration and support for the new High-Temperature abradable testing station
Candidate Profile
