Job Title: Manager, Machine Operator Qualifications

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Machine Operator Qualifications to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for training, mentoring, and evaluating engineering employees on skill level and ability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate the skill levels of engineering machine operators against set parameters.
  2. Develop continuous improvement opportunities through training and technical support.
  3. Train, coach, and monitor engineering employees operating work equipment.
  4. Document and process employee qualification and disqualification of engineering machine operators.
  5. Plan, schedule, and monitor approved training classes associated with machine operators.
  6. Implement, educate, and provide guidance to employees contributing to improved safety.
  7. Interact with employees to ensure understanding of performance requirements of inspections and preventive maintenance.
  8. Manage and mentor a Unionized Trainer-Mentor if required.
  9. Apply the collective agreement.
  10. Stop unsafe work practices and behaviors.
Requirements:
  1. Grade 12 or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years production crew or work equipment maintenance experience.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of engineering field operations and production crews.
  4. Must be bilingual in English and French.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of CBA related to qualification and disqualification of position.
  6. Organizational and people leadership.
  7. Good communication skills, verbal and written.
