Role Overview:
As part of the Group Legal department, you will join the Insurance, Reinsurance, and Strategic Projects team, reporting directly to the Senior Financial Regulatory Counsel. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the Group's legal authority on financial and insurance regulatory matters, addressing issues that impact the organization at any given time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Advisory: Conduct thorough analyses of legal risks to deliver pragmatic, tailored advice that aligns with both commercial objectives and compliance requirements. Prepare high-quality presentations and memos, and actively participate in internal meetings and committees.
- Public Affairs and Regulatory Interaction: Provide insights on emerging regulations and collaborate with public affairs teams to engage with regulators and trade associations. Offer guidance on the interpretation of existing regulations that could significantly affect the Group.
- Strategic Support: Assist the broader Group Legal team with regulatory matters arising from M&A, corporate simplification, and other key initiatives. Ensure effective coordination with internal AXA functions and external advisors.
- Thought Leadership: Stay informed on emerging legal issues and trends, providing training to non-legal teams and networking with industry peers to keep abreast of developments impacting AXA's business.
Main Result Areas:
- Deliver expert advice on complex financial regulatory and insurance issues affecting the Group.
- Support the execution of corporate and strategic projects, ensuring legal certainty and adherence to best practices across the organization.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years as a lawyer in a legal department or international law firm, with a strong understanding of the financial and insurance regulatory landscape.
- Skills: A pragmatic problem-solving approach, excellent collaborative skills, and the ability to inspire and influence across departments.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, with proficiency in French being an advantage.
