Accelerate your career with Applied Materials, the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world.

Our expertise in modifying materials at atomic levels and on an industrial scale helps our customers transform their ideas into reality.

We are offering a Fast Track Graduate Program for Process Engineers in Europe.

Join our international 6-month program for Process Engineers starting in September 2024.

The program is aimed at ambitious new graduates looking for an exciting career in the semiconductor industry.

In this role, you will have the potential to accelerate your career and acquire an insight into different areas, whilst building a valuable international network.

Upon completion of your training, you will be located in either Grenoble (France), Agrate (Italy) or Dresden (Germany) which are vibrant hubs for the semiconductor industry in Europe.

What our Process Engineers stand for:

  • The Process Support Engineer (PSE) role is a broad, career-growth foundation.
  • PSEs are customer-facing and play key roles necessary to complete the "Product Life Cycle", from concept-to-qualification and everything in between.
  • They partner with our globally recognized R&D teams and work directly with customers in their fabs to develop solutions that drive the semiconductor industry.
  • PSEs work across technologies such as: Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal, Implant, Metrology and Inspection

The Fast Track Training Program and its opportunities

Your journey with Applied Materials begins in our Process Support Engineer Development Program where you will experience a blended learning environment and expanded networking opportunities.

With rotations in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in California and Europe, you will have the opportunity to gain high-level visibility into the organization and the skills to propel your career as a Process Support Engineer

  • Your quick carefully planned exposure to Applied Materials' tools and technologies, internal operations and customer interface can lead to future opportunities in technical program management, account management (sales), product and technology development, as well as field service.
  • For at least the first two years of your career, you will be based in one of the dynamic cities of Dresden, Germany, Grenoble, France or Agrate, Italy. All three locations are recognized as a hub for the semiconductor industry. Relocation support will be provided, where applicable.
  • We know how important it is to have a strong community around you. You'll get the support and coaching you need to succeed, with teammates and senior leaders supporting you to achieve your goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the customer to develop leading-edge processes used to manufacture the most-advanced semiconductor chips, many of which are inside everyday electronic devices.
  • Design hypothesis experiments, design of experiments (DOE), analyze data with statistics and compile reports with high-level conclusions on technically challenging processes.
  • Provide high-visibility customer support through the performance of on-site installations, system diagnoses, and the service and repair of complex systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of complex problems, perform multiple root cause analysis and resolve a variety of difficult process engineering and customer product issues.
  • Communicate with both internal stakeholders and the customer to achieve goals with a focus on building relationships and establishing trust.
  • An advanced level of English together with a proficient level of either French, German or Italian.
  • You are a EU Citizen or have the right to live and work in France/Germany/Italy.

Who are we looking for:

  • You are graduating with a Master or PhD degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related field.

More Important than the technical subject you studied is your international mindset and we will be looking for evidence of the following competencies:
