Position Overview
The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi - Junior School is seeking a dedicated Teacher Librarian to oversee the daily operations of our library and to facilitate a library and research-focused curriculum for students in grades 1 to 5.
Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with library personnel and classroom educators to enhance teaching and learning within the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Integrate information literacy skills into curriculum-based learning experiences alongside classroom teachers.
- Exemplify and promote collaborative learning behaviors, leveraging available web technologies.
- Stay informed about new and emerging technologies to enhance library services.
- Assist educators in fostering a positive and stimulating educational atmosphere.
- Encourage a culture of reading for pleasure among students.
- Maintain the library as a hub for learning and inquiry within the school community.
- Design a library program that aligns with the overall educational curriculum.
- Develop evaluation strategies for the library program in accordance with curriculum expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Library and Information Science along with a teaching qualification.
- Proficiency in contemporary technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Possession of a TSC Certificate.
- Experience in an educational setting is essential.
